Chore time already?!

Sorry it has been awhile. it has not been for lack of laughs or cuteness. More just lack of feeling healthy enough to do anything. Then family (yes, the whole family) has some sort of chest consuming, sinus infecting, ear aching bug. it is really just no fun. My head hurts so bad that my teeth are hurting so I can't imagine what my kids are going through. Despite all of this, the babes are still managing to make me smile and be schmoopy at just how adorable they are!
Boyd has recently taken to his blanket. When I get him out of bed in the morning he wont leave until it is in his arms. He cuddles for a bit on the couch and then seems to forget about it. We are trying to get them to watch a movie different than Despicable Me every now and then. Boyd seems okay with Cars. This morning we were resting on the couch and he said "ka-chow!" which Lightning Mcqueen is thanked for. he loves his neighbor friend Tyler and everyday about a million times we hear, "Ty-yee!!" he really likes him, i think. :)
Brynlee has quite the little attitude and is pretty darn sassy!! She knows what she wants and is determined to let everybody know about it until she gets it! Some days this is not so cute, but because everything else she does is so lovable, i guess we'll let it slide! :) She still asks for Despicable Me on an hourly basis. once a day is plenty for me. She calls out desperately, "Gru-u!" (said, Grew-ew) ;) She loves her juice, which most of the time is water. but saying jewsh is so much cuter than correcting her. she'll learn! :) We are planning a trip to the coast in a couple of days and so this morning i asked them if they wanted to go to the Ocean. Brynlee just shouts, "aw wa!" how about that, my kids already speak spanish! and Boyd will say "osha"!
Being sick is no fun for any of us, but my kids love to cuddle right now, so i'm taking full advantage!!
Oops! and before I forget! The moment of the week that just made me happy (and the reason for the title of this post): yesterday while unloading the dishwasher, Boyd came over and started taking things out of the machine. Usually at this point i have them step away because things end up all over the house. Not this time. He handed me each dish, silverware included, one by one and I put each thing away. Such a good little helper. and now we introduce chores! okay maybe not quite, but if he's volunteering, who am i to stop him?
I'm sure i'll be back with more funny things to say about them soon! I can't get enough!

verbally adorable...

For a while now the kids have been learning new words and a new phrase here and there. This past week our neighbors, and more importantly, our friends the Krebs, have been out of town. Every day when taking the kids out to play or to get in the car, Bryn loudly explains, "friends home" while shaking her head no. (sounds more like, "frish home") Boyd loves buses and fire trucks. He will yell "bus!!" every time he sees one. there happens to be a bus lot right around the corner from us, so it makes me smile every time we drive past there. (sounds like buths) He has turned in to quite the little mama's boy lately and there are no complaints here. I love it! New today: If Boyd and Bryn are both doing something they know they shouldn't but i noticed Boyd first and start to lecture him, Bryn will give me a cheesy, beautiful grin in hopes of avoiding her retribution. Unfortunately, and as much as I don't want to, I still have to get after her. After all, she was doing the very thing that Boyd got in "trouble" for.
When I let the each feed themselves, I usually sit right in front of them to avoid the majority of their food being thrown on the ground. They will look at me then at their food then look back at me, smile and say, "hi" so that i might think they are so cute that i will let them get away with anything! While I do think they are so cute and I LOVE it when they do this, I have my rules and they are like a wall of ...of....something that is strong....most of the time. :)
good day today....good day, indeed.

Our little independents on Independence Day!

Today is July 4th. We started it off like any other day except daddy was home with us! We are so excited when daddy gets to be home with us! The best part of my day was taking the kids to the park before the fireworks started. it is fun to watch them run and play on the playground. A few things that made me really laugh and filled me with sheer joy:
Boyd holds the camera and pretends to take a picture and says, "CHEESE!!"
Brynlee wraps her arms as tight as she can around my neck now to give me a hug.
Boyd gives me all the kisses I could ever want and more! ladies be ware! :)
Last night when watching Despicable Me, they wouldn't take their eyes off of it no matter what we did to distract them. It is fun to watch especially bryn's face as she begins to understand funny parts to movies and then laughs or smiles at her favorite parts.
They both say tate you (thank you) at applicable times.

Tonight I watched with nothing but pure joy as Eric held Boyd and I held Bryn and we watched the fireworks. I admit, I mostly just watched the faces of my children. they are more beautiful than any firework I could ever see. And it is especially adorable to watch their faces light up when they see the lights....and just to realize how truly blessed we are to live in this country and to be able to celebrate our freedoms!!

And in other news: Brynlee has learned to say "shoo fly" whenever she sees a fly in the house!
and when Boyd gets really scared, he now will run to you, jump in your arms and hide his little face as far into your neck meat as he can get. sometimes I want him to be scared on purpose. ;)

hi-i

and before I forget to mention this, because it is just the cutest, Brynlee will say "Hi-i" and "Bye-i" to anyone she comes in contact with. It is so sweet. It makes people smile. I hope she always has that friendly part about her. Sometimes we get stares when we go into stores. Mostly I think it is just either that people are trying to decide if they are twins, Boyd is bigger than his sis, or because they are just that cute that you can't look away. Mesmerizing, really. :) at least I think so. Anyway, Brynlee will notice them right away and say "Hi-i" and they realize they were caught and laugh or smile, say hi and be on their way. I just love it. I really do.

just when I don't, they do.

Just when I think that my absolutely adorable children cannot get any more.... well, adorable, they do! My heart just melts and feels a happy high that can't be explained any other way. At this age, they are learning so many things. They love putting things in containers, taking everything and I mean everything, out of its package and then putting it right back....sometime. ;) They love to explore. They are very inquisitive about almost everything. some things like fans or vacuums are just to scary to be curious about. Brynlee, i've noticed, is in to taste right now. I've have caught her licking rocks, dirt, a bike tire, the carpet, Boyd's arm (which quickly turned to biting!) Great!, and tonight as Eric and I were singing a good night song and rocking the kids, Bryn in my arms, I caught her licking me! I couldn't help but laugh right there in the middle of the finest rendition of I am a Child of God. and Boyd. Well, lets just say he is ALL boy. Tonight, while in the bathtub, Boyd was getting.....musical....sort of. (WARNING: I hate the word "fart" so this story pains me to write, but it is hilarious and so I will in fact, use the word. my apologies if you are offended.) Boyd was standing in the tub splashing his legs around while I washed Bryn. Then it got quiet. All of the sudden I hear 4 or 5 not so musical notes coming from the cutest little boy tush! He just quickly looked up at me and yes, started laughing. Then he proceeded to put his leg up on the shelf of the tub (think, where you put soap bottles), played a few more notes and then realized that if he rubbed his foot around on the shelf, it would make the same noise. So he did that for 5 minutes until his other leg got tired. He thought he was so funny and therefore, so did I!

One thing they do right now that I am loving: It first starts out as chasing around the house. Then a few wrestling moves are involved. Both are having fun at first, then Boyd forgets that Bryn is his little sister. So she starts screaming. Then he starts screaming. (Why do I love this? you ask.) Right as I am getting out of my seat to run across the living room and into the kitchen to break up a very competitive wrestling match, something changes quickly and B and B are grabbing each other by the cheeks, smooshing them together to make the "chubby" face and giving each other kisses, followed by hugs. and. my. heart. melts.

in the mornings

Sometimes I am a little slow getting the kids out of their cribs in the morning. I just try to squeeze in one more thing before our kid focused day starts. I can almost count on it every morning, a morning exactly like this one.....and it goes like this: Bryn wakes up and starts in immediately with, "maa...daa...bo (her name for boyd, which is cute enough!).......ma"....and so on. Then shortly after her rant, which is all in a cheery voice, first thing in the morning, Boyd chimes in with some unrecognizable noise and then the laughter begins. The loudest, most boisterous, mischievous belly laughs i've ever heard. What a great way to start my day!

On a side note, I must have said "no" a lot yesterday. And when I say "no" it is usually because one or both of the babes are doing something I need them to stop immediately, so it comes out more like, "no, no, no, no, no!" This morning, as I listen to them playing in their cribs I hear Boyd, who usually hears it the most, saying, "no, no, no, no!!!" then Brynlee laughs and starts doing the same! Excuse me! Are you mocking me!? I don't care if they are! It is adorable!.....for now.

They make me chuckle.
